FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
1. What video style will my DVD be?
There are three different styles of wedding video. Documentary Style is a style one might see on Discovery channel or a Nature Channel. Typically, it consists of video footage with narration and music. Cinamatography Style is more like a highlights video clip. Think in terms of a football highlights reel or even a music video, where brief clips are edited together to some catchy music to give a person the "impression" of what your wedding day was like.. This style tends to be much shorter in length, showing only the most important aspects of your day, but not necessarily the entire moment by moment events from your wedding day. Then there is the Fly-on-the-Wall Style. This is where the camera captures every moment of your wedding day, from preparations for the ceremony to the wedding kiss, from traveling to the reception to the dancing.
Our style of wedding video is a combination of the Cinagraphic and the Fly-on-the-wall styles. We strive to capture every moment of your ceremony and reception and then edit that into a moment-by-moment representation of what took place on your wedding day. We also, include some highlight reels that maybe capture some of the things that don't necessarily fit in your video, but that are important events for you to remember about your day.
2. How early should I book your services?
Obviously, the earlier the better to make sure that we are available for your specific date. Some clients have called saying, "I'm getting married in a month and just decided that I want my wedding videotaped. Are you available?" You never know, so call me anyway. I just might be available. But the earlier you can book a date with us, the better chance you have of the date you want being available.
When you call, I will let you know if the date you have chosen is available. I work on a first-come-first-served arrangement. Which means whoever puts their deposit down first for a particular date will be given priority. If more than one client is asking to book on the same date, I will attempt to give both clients that information, but in the end, the one who lays down a deposit first, will be booked for a particular date.
3. How do I book your services?
I have a few short contract papers that you will need to sign and return to me. We may either meet in person at my home location, or we can take care of the booking by mail. I have the ability to send most of my contract forms over email in PDF version files, so that you can get the forms immediately. However, those forms must be signed and returned through the normal mail service.
4. If you can send forms online, can I pay with credit card or on your website?
We're sorry, but we work strictly with cash and checks. We are not set up to accept Credit Card payments at this time.
5. What kind of music will you use on my Wedding DVD.
There are many copyright issues related to music that we must be conscious of when recording a wedding video. For instance, when our clients have their first dance at the reception, they would really like to have the actual music being played on their DVD. In order for this to happen, it is important that you own the music to these particular songs. First of all, you need to own the music that I include in your Wedding DVD. All you need to do is choose the songs you would like in your video and let me borrow the CD’s. I will give them back once the video is complete. You will need to pick around 10 songs, some fast, some slow and you are welcome to let me know where you would want each song (getting ready, ceremony, photo taking, reception, dancing).
6. Why don't you include all of the dancing portion of our reception?
Editing a wedding video is a curious task. As a producer, I have to ask myself, "what will hold my viewer's attention?" Another words, I don't want to include any footage that will bore the viewer and cause them to turn off the DVD or to fast-forward to something else. As a viewer, I find watching dancing at a wedding reception is interesting for about five minutes. After that, it all starts to look the same and I become bored with watching it. Therefore, we try diligently to capture certain parts of the dancing at your reception. Those moments when your guests are "really getting into it." Or the fun songs when everyone gets up to dance. We try to capture the fun moments of your reception, so that you will enjoy watching those moments and not want to fast forward to the next part.
7 Does this include our first dance?
We will strive to abide by your wishes? If you want the entire first dance shown on your video, then we will gladly oblige. However, we ask you to consider that most songs are around four minutes long and not many viewers of your wedding DVD want to sit and watch you sway back and forth for four minutes.
8: What kind of equipment do you use?
We have a variety of equipment, including professional model camcorders. All of our equipment is digital quality, and will look excellent on your wedding DVD. Many customers are interested in High-definition video these days. However, we are not set up to record in high-definition at this time.
9. Does the groom have to wear a microphone?
We do not place a microphone on the groom for various reasons. First, something could happen to that microphone. The possibilities are endless, such as the microphone slipping off, batteries going dead, or a malfunction during the wedding. We cannot fix these problems during the wedding ceremony, so we have chosen to use other methods of capturing quality audio during your wedding. We can hide digital recorders and microphones near the front of the sanctuary to help capture all the most important audio moments.
7. When will I receive my Wedding video?
This is a most important question that all of our clients ask. Editing a quality final product is a time-consuming and tedious task. Most editors will tell you that it takes approximately one hour of editing for every finished minute of video. It takes this much time because we are professionals and we want our final product to look spectacular. Most videographers and editors are perfectionists, which means that if they see even one little glitch, they MUST go back and fix it. That is the way we approach our work at Hollenberg Video Services. We want you to be proud of the DVD you have purchased.
We ask for at least three months to complete your wedding DVD. If your wedding ceremony is longer than the traditional ceremony (about 25 minutes), it may take us even longer to complete your DVD. However, we will attempt to keep you informed about our progress and you are always welcome to call and inquire about the status of your DVD.
